We chose Peru for our trip and our mission to help kids for meaningful reasons. First and foremost, our mom is from Peru. This connection to the country runs in our family as it's part of our heritage, our culture, our language, and our identity. Going to Peru isn’t just a visit; it’s a way to reconnect with our roots and give back to the place that shaped so much of who we are.
Beyond our personal ties, we learned about the real challenges many children in Peru face when it comes to education, especially in rural and underserved areas. While school itself is free, families often have to cover the cost of basic supplies like notebooks, pencils, pens, rulers, and sometimes even uniforms.
For many households dealing with poverty, these small expenses can be a huge burden and, most of the time, impossible to afford. Without those essentials, kids struggle to fully participate in class, keep up with lessons, or even attend regularly. This creates barriers that affect their learning and future opportunities, and we wanted to help remove some of those obstacles in a direct, tangible way.
By bringing and distributing school supplies, we hope to make a small but real difference: giving kids the tools they need to learn, stay engaged in school, and dream bigger. It’s our way of supporting the next generation in a country we love and are proud to be connected to.
It was a wonderful visit to Chicuchas Wasi School for girls. We were greeted with a cheerful welcome and received hugs from all the little arms. This was by far the highlight of out trip.
